In the United States, drug overdoses are now the leading cause of accidental death. In fact, each year, more Americans die from drug overdoses than from car accidents. In light of these alarming figures, 24/7 Wall St. recently published a new study that examined and classified 25 of the most dangerous drugs and drug combinations. Researchers used data from the federal government on side effects and death rates, as well as data from medical information organizations and websites like Medscape, WebMD, and the American Medical Association on the potential risk of drug combinations.
This list includes well-known prescription drugs, infamous street drugs, and lethal combinations of the two. Many of these medications are generally thought to be safe when used alone and under the right circumstances. All drugs, however, can be fatal if taken in excess or combined improperly with other substances.
